Grandfather Mountain, Nature on a Whole Different Level

HEALTHY LIVING FESTIVAL AT GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN MAY 22

pink-shell azaleaGRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN, NC – Grandfather Mountain and the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce will host a healthy living festival Saturday, May 22 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The festival will take place at Grandfather Mountain, below the Fudge Shop.

Booths and activities will include a stationary bike competition, craft projects made out of recycled materials, presentations by Grandfather Naturalists and much more.

The Caldwell Chamber is in the process of collecting art that will be displayed on the porch of the Fudge Shop during the festival. Visitors will be able to view the art and vote on a competition winner.

During the festival, the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce and the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation will make a joint announcement about the September 19 Bridge to Bridge Bike Ride.

"We're excited to make this announcement, " said Chamber President Deborah Ashley. "We hope the bike ride will become the highlight of a week-long focus on healthy living and the environment."

bridge to bridgeThe Bridge to Bridge is a 100-mile bike ride that begins in Caldwell County and ends at the top of Grandfather Mountain. The event was established in 1989 and typically attracts over 800 riders. Past riders have represented 34 states and three countries.

All festival events are included in the regular price of admission to Grandfather Mountain.

Grandfather Mountain is a 600-acre scenic attraction and nature preserve located near Linville, NC on US Highway 221, one mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 305.
