Welcome to a Globally Recognized Nature Preserve

Grandfather Mountain, elevation 5,964 feet, has been a wildlife sanctuary and nature preserve for decades.

Grandfather Mountain is owned by the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation and its programs are supported by the sales of tickets and souvenirs. The company's objective is to steward the property in a way that protects the natural wonder of the geographic landmark AND offers the general public access to its fantastic scenery.

In order to accomplish all that it does, the organization fosters partnerships with other successful land managers that help facilitate sharing of knowledge and inspiration.

  • The Nature Conservancy
  • United Nations Man & Biosphere Program
  • N.C. Natural Heritage Program
  • National Park Service

What People Say…

"My family and I visited in November 2008. It was very cold, but exhilarating. The animals loved the cooler weather and we loved watching them while sipping coffee from your cozy coffee shop. "
