Dutchman's BreechesDutchman's Breeches
(Dicentra cucullaria)

A native perennial of the northeastern US, Dutchman's Breeches are occasionally found in rich woods and north slope river banks in the NC mountain counties (such as near the head of the Profile Trail). Similar to Squirrel Corn, the basal spurs of the flowers of this species are 1/2 or more the total flower length and are also more divergent. March-April.
