The Grandfather Mountain Camera Clinic is a two-day seminar that covers a variety of aspects that make up photojournalism. Amateur and professional photographers enjoy presentations from top speakers throughout the weekend and the opportunity to photograph Grandfather Mountain.
2014 Confirmed Speakers
Admission to the Camera Clinic is free for working photojournalists and members of the NC Press Photographers Association. Admission to the Camera Clinic for photography enthusiasts who are not currently working photojournalists is $50 per person. Anyone wanting to secure a spot for the Camera Clinic (non media or media) must purchase a $50 pass online beginning July 15. The $50 will be refunded to those who show press credentials or a NCPPA membership card on Saturday morning at check-in.
A special two-day admission ticket is available for guests who do not plan to attend the clinic. Guests may also purchase tickets for the Saturday night buffet dinner.
On the day of the event, we ask pre-registered participants to check in at MacRae Meadows gate 3 (about 10 yards on the Linville side of the driveway to the Grandfather Mountain Office and 30 yards on the Linville side of the attraction Entrance Gate) to pick up a gate admission pass. This will allow you to identify yourself when coming and going from the attraction. Visitors who do not have a valid Camera Clinic admission ticket will be expected to pay regular park admission and will not be admitted to the auditorium.

Although Grandfather Mountain does not operate a commercial campground, campsites are available at no charge in the Grandfather Mountain Picnic Area for people participating in this event. The picnic area has bathrooms and water fountains, but no other amenities. No formal spots are reserved, but participants usually have no trouble locating a place to pitch their tents or park their vehicles (because it is a big mountain). It is necessary for you to mention camping when you register so that you can be given a windshield pass to identify you as staying in the picnic area.
