Interpretive Ranger Programs

Meet the people who know Grandfather almost as well as the squirrels do.

What kind of flower is this? How did this boulder get here? Did Native Americans live on the mountain? Grandfather Mountain inspires questions of all kinds. And there’s nobody better to answer them than Grandfather’s Interpretive Rangers. Friendly and knowledgeable, they’re on hand to discuss anything from geology to weather to the making of Forrest Gump on the mountain—making your visit even more remarkable.

Look for Interpretive Rangers by the Swinging Bridge and other popular sites.

  • My family and I (including our 4 year old son, our 14 year old daughter, and our 1 year old) visited Grandfather Mountain the day after Christmas. The weather was beautiful and the view was amazing. Walking across the mile high bridge and standing on the peak was a magical moment for me and my children that I will keep in my mind as one of those moments that helps get you through the rest of your less magical days.
