Interpretive Ranger Programs

Interpretive Ranger Programs

Meet the people who know Grandfather almost as well as the squirrels do.

What kind of flower is this? How did this boulder get here? Did Native Americans live on the mountain? Grandfather Mountain inspires questions of all kinds. And there’s nobody better to answer them than Grandfather’s Interpretive Rangers. Friendly and knowledgeable, they’re on hand to discuss anything from geology to weather to the making of Forrest Gump on the mountain — making your visit even more remarkable.

Look for Interpretive Rangers by the Swinging Bridge and other popular sites.

Rangers are also available to lead guided hikes by reservation.

What a rush! Just getting up the mountain was an experience. The view from the top was great. Coming down we stopped at the zoo and had a great time. People were so friendly. We met a family from Africa-and I thought I drove a long way! Would love to come back some day.
