Grandfather Mountain Gatehouse Sees Update

TV at gateAlready fresh from recent renovations, staff at the Grandfather Mountain Gatehouse are still working to enhance the welcome center's new image. A new wide-screen LCD television has been added to present visitors with a visual representation of what the Grandfather Mountain experience is like.

The television will show a variety of photographic slideshows and videos featuring beautiful scenery, animals, hiking trails, friendly faces and everything else that Grandfather has to offer. This will be especially useful to guests coming to Grandfather Mountain for the first time with questions about what exactly what they will see and experience while visiting.

“The television is a great addition to the Gatehouse,” said Gate Manager Jim Topelski, “a picture is worth a thousand words and we can use them to explain what we are all about.”

Plans for the future are for Grandfather’s Media Department to create many different slideshows that focus on specific seasons and events happening on the Mountain. These presentations will hopefully give guests an even greater look at the activities and scenery they can enjoy while visiting.

In June the Entrance Gate saw improvements in the form of renovations and additional space. The building now serves as an administrative office for the Gate and also provides Gate employees with some needed extra room. The building is open to the public as well offering restrooms for visitors and the opportunity to ask questions and pick up information and literature about Grandfather Mountain.
