Jackie DiPrimo of Youngsville, NC was
the grand prize winner in Time Warner Cable's Great
Grandfather Getaway. DiPrimo and her family won two
nights lodging at the Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock,
dinner at Woodlands Barbecue and tickets to Grandfather
Mountain and Tweetsie Railroad.
Four other weekly winners received tickets
to Grandfather and Tweetsie.

Over a three day period in July, Andy Mitcheltree
of Blowing Rock ran five miles to the top of Grandfather
Mountain to finish 11th in a foot race they call "The
Bear" - cycled 65 miles (including 7,000 feet
of climbing) to win a bike race they call "The
Grizzly" - and finished 6th in a 26.2 mile challenge
with over 3,000 feet of climbing that they call "America's
toughest marathon" to win the first Grandfather
Mountain Highland Games "Tartan Triathlon."
After 13 years as a stay-at-home mom, Helen Hopper is going
after her dream to be a photographer. Her heart tugged her
in the direction of Grandfather Mountain and now she is
the staff photographer, capturing people having fun enjoying
nature on a whole different level and contributing
a new point of view to the Grandfather Mountain photo library.
