New Brochure Launches A New Tagline For Grandfather Mountain

Grandfather Mountain has a slightly new story to tell now that the company is a not-for-profit corporation, so the attraction's rack brochure, welcome guide, trail map and website are being updated. With the new brochure, the Stewardship Foundation is rolling out a new tagline that accentuates the feeling of awe that accompanies a visit to Grandfather Mountain. Read more about it.

New Quarantine Building Being Added To Wildlife Habitat Facilities

holding pen Construction is underway behind the wildlife habitats on an 650 square-foot quarantine building where Grandfather's animals can be monitored as needed. The facility brings the Habitats one step closer to qualifying for accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Read more about it.

Wilma The Bald Eagle Succumbs At Age 34

Wilma, the Bald Eagle that came to Grandfather Mountain in 1981 after losing a wing to a gunshot wound, was humanely put to sleep this month after a battle with arthritis and declining health. As independent and outspoken as the nation she symbolized, Wilma had lived at Grandfather Mountain longer than any other animal in our care. Read more about it.
