The vast majority of our events are included with your park admission fee, but some events which require a small fee to participate to ensure you receive expert guidance and knowledge from specially trained individuals. December Dollar Days

Anyone who works or lives in Mitchell, Avery, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany or Wilkes counties, along with guests traveling in the same vehicle, are invited to visit Grandfather Mountain for $3 per person during the month of December 2016 with proof of local employment or residency.

New Year’s Sunrise

Grandfather Mountain will host a New Year’s Day sunrise opportunity on Jan. 1, 2017. Offered a limited number of times throughout the year, sunrise opportunities allow guests the rare chance to visit the park before regular operating hours.
