The vast majority of our events are included with your park admission fee, but some events which require a small fee to participate to ensure you receive expert guidance and knowledge from specially trained individuals. Check the cost section of each Event Listing to confirm whether any additional fees apply.

The Remarkable Rhododendron Ramble

Join us as we showcase the beauty and significance of this native plant. Staff naturalists will lead guided experiences, exploring the cultural history behind the plant, as well as its function in the wild landscape.

Nature Photography Weekend

Hear presentations from top nature photographers in the evenings, and photograph spectacular scenery and native animals during the day. Additional cost. Online registration begins April 3.

Animal Birthday Party

Grandfather Mountain celebrates the birthdays of all the animals in the environmental wildlife habitats with games, contests, crafts and surprises.

Beauty of the Night Hike

Join the Grandfather Mountain naturalists for a guided walk to challenge your senses and experience the beauty of the night atop the mountain. This program will explore various locations on the mountain, with discussions about nocturnal animals and other natural features. The program is not strenuous, but does include a short trail walk. Registration required by calling (828) 733-4326. Limited to 26 participants. Cost is $20 per person and free for Bridge Club members.

Join Grandfather for an evening with environmental experts, adventurers or scientists. Fuel your own passion through the words of these incredible groundbreakers! Speakers TBA. Cost is $20 per person and free for Bridge Club members. The event is limited to 100 guests, and registration is required by calling (828) 733-2013.

Enjoyed your work of art in August.  The mountain has came a long ways since my last trip 17 years ago, and all for the good. I am glad  the bridge is accessible to persons in wheelchairs, as I am. Thanks for a good day.
